Fort St. John rec facilities will begin reopening next week, after being closed for more than five months.

The Pomeroy Sport Centre and Kids Arena Fieldhouse will open Tuesday, Sept. 8. The opening of the North Peace Leisure Pool has been pushed to Saturday, Sept. 19 due to "ongoing capital improvement activities," said city spokesman Ryan Harvey.

The Pomeroy will open with ice installed in both rinks and the skating oval, while new turf has been installed at the Fieldhouse.

All ice and swim times must be booked ahead of time. Call the sport centre at 250-785-4592, and the pool at 250-787-8178 to book your time until the online booking system is up and running.

The city will also enter Phase 3 of its Recreation and Leisure Services Recovery Plan on Sept. 8.

This means all buildings will start to open, and the walking track, skating, and modified indoor programming will be introduced.

The North Peace Arena will open in October, though an opening date has still not been announced.

The city is asking residents to practice  practice physical distancing, to stay home if they feel unwell, and to report and health and safety concerns to facility staff.
