Cody Willis, Johnny Beaumont win Taylor Speedway season opener

The Taylor Speedway held its first-ever races with no fans last weekend, and it went as well as it possibly could have.

The Taylor Speedway held its first-ever races with no fans last weekend, and it went as well as it possibly could have. Though the racers were cut short on June 12 due to rain, there were no major issues, all social distance protocols were followed, and fans were treated to a livestream to watch the action from home.

Both the IMCA Modifieds and Mini Stock Junior classes ran June 12 and 13, recording points for the Babcock Memorial Challenge. Cody Willis won both races of the mini stocks, while Johnny Beaumont was the IMCA champ both days.

"This weekend went off without a hitch and we are excited to see where we are going to go from here! We hope that our fans can join us again soon but in the meantime we will do what we can to keep all our fans informed and up to date," said the Speedway executive in a post on the Taylor Speedway Facebook page.

The Babcock Memorial Challenge will resume June 26 and 27, when the Bomber and Mini Stock Adult classes race in front of no fans.
