The Fort St. John Soccer Club sent seven Northern Strikers soccer teams to Edmonton for the 2018 Slurpee Cup, June 2 to 3. The U15 boys won the tier 2 gold medal, while the U13 boys and U13 girls both won bronze.
Both the U9 boys and girls teams were in Hudson's Hope for another tournament.
The U15 boys played Red Deer Renegades (4-0), DUFC Snipers (4-1) and the gold medal game against Victoria 2004 (4-1).
The U13 girls won bronze in their tier.
After a hard loss to the Calgary Rangers in our first game, the boys came back to win the 2nd and 3rd games. There was a 3 way tie for points in the standings and it came down to a goal differential to determine placement. They beat the MUSC Gunners 3-1 and GP United 6-4. The boys were awarded Bronze medals.
They played MW Selects FC (2-3), Sherwood Park Phoenix (0-2) and MUSC Bayern (1-3). Although they lost all 3 games, they fought hard and held their own against some tough teams.
They lost the first game 4-3, won the second 5-4, and lost the bronze game 6-1.
The U11 Boys, U13 Girls and U15 Girls also attended the tournament.
