The Alberta Disc Golf Provincial Championships will be in Grande Prairie for the first time ever and will coincide with the Grande Prairie Disc Golf Club’s ten year anniversary.
The first permanent disc golf basket was installed nine years ago at Thrill Hill in Muskoseepi Park, and Grande Prairie now boasts 3 premier courses; two in the city and one in the county. All three courses will be utilized for the provincial tournament come August 14/15 and more.
This includes several other tournaments throughout the season, including the Club’s first Professional Disc Golf Association sanctioned Women’s Global Event on May 8. Grande Prairie Disc Golf Club President, Michael Curtiss, says this season will give players six opportunities to try out tournament play.
"I’m very excited for what we’ve got planned, especially for Provincials.”
Disc golf has quickly grown in popularity - especially over the last year - because it is an affordable outdoor sport that can be played with physical distancing and in small groups or alone.
