Home opener against the Wheat Kings next Friday

The Fort St. John Huskies improved to 3-and-0 on the season after a come-from-behind 8-4 win over the North Peace Navigators Friday night.

Head coach Todd Alexander had mixed reviews on his team’s play.

“Sometimes it was average. Sometimes it was really good, and sometimes it was lacking detail in assignment and awareness tonight. We played well enough and the power play got really hot.”

Fort St. John went five-for-seven with the man-advantage.

The Huskies, who trailed 3-2 midway through the second, scored five unanswered goals before the end of the middle frame to take back control of the game.

“We were having stretches where we were playing our game. It was one of those games where our detail, especially in our own zone, was just not that good.”

Kurtis Lee had a five-point night including the hat-trick.

“Kurt was hot tonight. He had some really good looks (chances) on the power play and some earlier looks, hit a couple of posts. Who knows, he could have ended up with a couple of more.”

The Huskies will now prepare for their home opener next Friday (Oct. 7) when the Grande Prairie Wheat Kings come to town.

Puck drop is 8pm at the North Peace Arena.
