The long mid-season PBR Canada break may have been just what Jake Gardner needed. Since the PBR Canada Monster Energy Tour resumed in Lethbridge in July, Gardner has three top-five finishes. He competed at the Lockdown Bull Bash in Ponokoa last weekend, September 26, where he finished second.
Gardner went one for two in Ponoka, riding his bull to a score of 85 points in round one, which actually put him into a tie for second with Zane Lambert. Jordan Hansen finished first with a very impressive two-bull score of 168.5. Gardner won $926.18 from the event.
Gardner started the second-half of the season, which was on pause due to COVID-19, with a fifth-place finish in Lethbridge, and followed that up with a fourth-place showing at Prince Albert just three weeks later. Gardner didn't place at the other event since the season resumed, in Stavely on August 22.
The second-place finish puts Gardner 11th in the tour standings with 56.5 points. There are two more events left on the 2020 PBR Canada season. The tour will stop in Grande Prairie for the Grande Prairie Buckwild, November 5 to 7. The Monster Energy Canadian Finals go the next week in Saskatoon, November 13 and 14.
