Just 2 spots left for DCAA's Cash Scramble

The Dawson Creek Athletic Association is looking for two more teams to fill out this coming weekend's Cash Scramble.

The Dawson Creek Athletic Association is looking for two more teams to fill out this coming weekend's Cash Scramble.

With less than a week to go before the popular early summer golf fundraiser, 34 teams have signed up, and organizers are urging another two teams of four players to join the fun this Saturday and Sunday at the Dawson Creek Golf and Country Club.

"We have had an excellent response from sponsors and there will be a good array of prizes and cash for the cash scramble," said Alvie Shearer, the DCAA's secretary/treasurer and one of the main organizers of the event.

The contest is a four-ball, best-ball format with specific handicap rules that each team is allowed to have. Each team must have a minimum combined handicap of 40, and the maximum handicap any one individual can register is 23.

After the first round Saturday, teams will be broken up into three different divisions after the first round Saturday for play Sunday.

The top teams can earn a sizeable paycheque. Last year the Cash Scramble paid out over $50,000 in all.

Organizers expect if they fill out the slate with a complete 36 teams the payout will be similar.

For more information on the tournament or to grab one of the last two remaining spots contact Shearer or Tracy Steinke at 782-9155 or 1-800-663-8080.
