Keagan Goulet, fresh off of trying out for Team B.C. at the upcoming 2021 National Women's U18 Championship in Dawson Creek, has committed to the University of Calgary Dinos women's hockey team for the 2022-23 season.
Currently in Grade 12, the Fort St. John product will play for the Northern Capitals this season, her third year with the triple-A club, before turning her sights to the Dinos and the U Sports level.
"It feels really good, it's close to home and I have family down there. I'm excited for their top-end programs, to get a degree and education, and for the future. The team is awesome," Goulet said.
Goulet, who plays defence, scored 12 points in 27 games for the Capitals during the 2019-20 season. The Capitals didn't play any competitive games last season.
She was one of six Peace Region players and former Northeast BC Predators named to the Capitals roster today. The season opener goes in Prince George, September 25.
Goulet has dreamed of playing college hockey for a long time.
"It's definitely been a dream of mine, to just go off and play the university game. It's the next sop in my hockey path," she said.
As for Team B.C., Goulet said she's pleased with what she showed at the provincial camp, and is waiting to see if she made the team. The roster will be revealed near the end of September.
