On November 20, North Peace Secondary hosted the Senior AAA Boys Volleyball Zones and the Senior AAAA Girls Volleyball Zones. The Grizzlies teams competed against the Prince George Cougars on their road to provincials.

The senior girls volleyball team started off strong, working together as a team fighting for their spot at provincials. The Grizzlies won all three sets to take the victory, displaying maturity on the court as a team. The most valuable player, all-star, and most sportsmanlike awards went to Kesney Myllymaki, Grace Adams and Avery Hucker, respectively.

The senior boys volleyball team started off strong in their first set, but couldn’t surpass PGSS. The boys battled all three sets, demonstrating their best games of the season, but came up short of a win in the end.  The boys have progressed quickly in three months and showcased their extensive growth this weekend, with the PGSS coaches noticing this after playing each other in the first tournament of the season. The most valuable player, all-star and most sportsmanlike awards went to Devon Lee, Cole Harder and Matthew Menduk.

Basketball season is starting off with tryouts this week as coaches and students are looking forward to this season of competition.

Up next: The senior girls volleyball team will be at provincials in Nanaimo, December 1 to 5. Good luck Grizzlies!
