4H-Prespatou-June2022

Hello readers! What a wonderful beginning of summer we are having. My name is Jessica Wiebe I am the reporter of the Prespatou 4-H Community Club.

This spring our club has been everywhere! No joke. We have been raising money for our club for two months now.

How you may ask? We have been selling items such as planters and benches. We had some of these items at the Rhythm Auctions last month. We also have a picnic table almost ready to be sold! We also did our garbage clean up in the ditches in our community. Thank you to Dawson Road Maintenance for the opportunity to raise money and help our community. Our club also has been out putting up flyers for the 4-H Achievement Days. We had our last meeting on May 30.

Since Achievement Days are right around the corner, us 4-H members are really busy getting our animals ready for this amazing event. Finally, after two years we get to have Achievement Days like before! The beef members are just starting to clip and wash their animals so they will be clean and are getting used to the water. They will also be working on getting their animals use to the ring and loud noises. This also help with them getting use to others animals. They do it so it will hopefully prevent the animal to freak out at Achievement Days.

The sheep of our club got their hair cuts on June 4. Some of the sheep members washed their sheep last week. We always wash them a couple of times before Achievement Days so they get use to the water and aren’t so dirty when you want to wash them the week before. We also had a weigh in on June 4. All of the sheep are doing amazing.

This week we will be having a mini rally. A mini rally is where the members are leading there animals around in a ring. The leader is usually in the middle of the ring to tell the members to stop their animals and line them up. And practice setting them up. We have two different rings where we do this in, one for the beef animals and one for the sheep.

We will be have our 4-H Achievement Days July 9-10 at the North Peace fair grounds. Saturday shows start at 9 a.m. starting with sheep, then swine, horse, and beef. On Sunday, the beef shows start at 9:30 a.m. Horse show will be starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday. There will be a sheep parade and awards on Sunday as well. The sale selling swine, sheep and beef is on Sunday at 5 p.m.

Our club will also be celebrating the 20th anniversary of our club. I hope to see you there. 😃
