Samuel Hafner will move on to college soccer in the fall, suiting up for the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves men's soccer team for the 2021-22 season.
“Being chosen by GPRC is an honour and a privilege, and I am looking forward to getting started,” Hafner said in a release.
“I am looking forward to challenging myself on the field and competing at the next level. I’m ready to bring my best to the game."
Hafner played in the 2018 British Columbia Summer Games, and won many tournaments throughout the years with the Fort St. John Northern Strikers.
Head Coach Christ Morgan is familiar with Hafner's game, and likes what he'll bring to the Wolves.
“I first saw (Hafner) representing Fort St. John Soccer Club at Provincials in Edmonton a few years ago and spoke with him and his mom at the time. Since then, I have watched (Hafner) play several times. He has an on-field presence due to his size and the central defensive position he plays," Morgan said.
"(Hafner) will be a solid addition to the squad. We hope he can grasp the opportunity and add to the culture that exists in the Wolves program."
Hafner is the second player from Fort St. John to sign with GPRC this recruitment season after Isabelle Ziebart signed wtih the women's team last week.
