The Fort St. John Huskies were finally at home Friday night after playing their first eight games on the road, and they didn't disappoint their loyal fans.
The Huskies beat the Fairview Flyers 9-1, and improved their record to 9-0 on the season.
"I thought we played pretty sharp tonight, moved the puck well and played really fast. With the circumstances, not playing at home in two years, we had to try and keep the energy down a little because guys were so fired up," said coach Todd Alexander.
It was the Huskies first game at the North Peace Arena since March 2020.
Raymond Dick led the team with 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists), while Alex Nimmo had 3 points and 2 goals as well. Nick Loewen added 3 points of his own.
The team relished playing at home, and will get a chance to do the same tonight when they host the second place Sexsmith Vipers at 8 p.m.
"It was awesome. It's great to see everyone in the crowd again, and have that energy. That's part of the fun at this level, and we love playing in front of them," Alexander said.
