The Silver Willow 4-H club has been busy this past month with regional communications and project weigh-in.

Regional 4-H communications was held in Dawson Creek. Silver Willow had members in speeches, speak and show and display boards. In senior speeches, Kiara Selin placed first and Maria Hansen second. Junior speeches was won by Erik Hansen and Kinsley Kishkan was second. Jaden Myers placed first with his speak and show on the Unconventional History of the Tractor. Bailey Fell placed first with her senior display board and Walker Masse was first with his junior display board. Joelle and Hailey Shipley received participation recognition for their display board.

The district had their sheep weigh-in and immunization for starting their projects. We would like to thank North Peace Vet Clinic for the donation of vaccine and dewormer for our projects. This year our club has two market lambs and hopefully two ewe and lamb projects. My sisters are waiting for their ewes to lamb out in May. My sister’s ewe Minni can hardly run any more so we are hoping she is having triplets.

On April 10, we had our first in-person meeting. It was great to get to see everyone. After the meeting, we weighed our steers to ensure they are growing enough. My steer “Buff” is getting used to the monthly weigh-in. He just jumps up into the trailer and moves over to be tied. Next month we will be having a practice judging rally and meeting at my house.

That all folks,
