Silver Willow 4H

The Silver Willow 4H Club is up and running once again this year. The club has been around for 45 years. We have 21 members that are enrolled in either beef, sheep or soil projects. We started off our year with a Zoom meeting, due to Covid restrictions, to determine the 4H roles that the members would have this year. Our next get together will be in person, but outside, to follow regulations.

This is my second year with a beef project. My sisters also have beef projects this year, so we have four steers. My sisters and I have started to halter train them and get them used to being groomed. My steer is getting more friendly, and I have named him Buff.

We had our first weigh-in on November 7 at our leader's house. It was a beautiful day but a little slick from the wet ground that has not frozen yet. After we weighed our steers we vaccinated them. Thank you to North Peace Vet Clinic for your generous donation of vaccinations and dewormer for our projects. Our steers need to be vaccinated in order to qualify for insurance. For our next meeting we are hoping for some more snow because we are supposed to be going sledding!

That's all for this month.
