The Watt School of Irish Dance’s fourth annual St. Paddy’s Day run and fundraiser begins on March 17, and will run through March 31.

However, this year’s event will be virtual for the first time (last year’s run took place on March 14, right before the first shutdowns of the pandemic began).

Participants get to pick the day they run, their route, and distance, and will submit their time online. Medals will still be awarded to all participants, and will be mailed out four weeks after the race time concludes.

Ashley Campbell with the Watt School of Irish Dance said this is the first year the dancers won’t get to perform in local pubs following the run.

“We obviously aren’t (performing in pubs this year) and will really miss that. St. Patricky’s Day is really special to Irish dancers,” said Campbell.

The event is the school’s biggest annual fundraiser.
