Taylor Speedway to hold races this weekend with no fans

Drivers, start your engines! Finally, that phrase can be used for more than just the drive to the grocery store, as Taylor Speedway will begin its 2020 season this weekend, June 12 and 13. Unfortunately, spectators will not be allowed at this time.

There will be a familiar sight at the Taylor Speedway this weekend, June 12 and 13, 2020. Unfortunately, there will be no spectators there to see it.

Drivers, start your engines!

Finally, that phrase can be used for more than just the drive to the grocery store, as Taylor Speedway will begin its 2020 season this weekend, June 12 and 13. Unfortunately, spectators will not be allowed at this time.

This weekend will see the IMCA Modifieds and Mini Stock Junior classes race. Only two classes are able to race at a time, in order to keep the number of drivers, people in the pits and track staff under 50. The points gained from these races will determine the winners of the Babcock Memorial Points Challenge.

The Bombers and Mini Stock Adult classes will race two weeks later on June 26 and 27. Following this weekend, all four class winners of the Babcock Memorial Challenge will be announced. The Babcock Memorial Challenge was originally scheduled to be held in its entirety this weekend, June 12 and 13.

Though it won't be the same as a normal race weekend, it's a step in the right direction, and will hopefully provide other sports leagues and racing organizations a bit of a blueprint of how to return to action this summer.
