Top award nominees included in Players' draw

Curling fans who attend the upcoming Grey Power Players' championships next week will have the added thrill of seeing the World Curling Tour Players' Association hand out five awards to the top curlers.

Curling fans who attend the upcoming Grey Power Players' championships next week will have the added thrill of seeing the World Curling Tour Players' Association hand out five awards to the top curlers.

The Association will be picking the men's most valuable player, women's most valuable player, men's team of the year, women's team of the year and rookie team of the year during the April 13-18 contest.

The nominees for the most valuable player include Glenn Howard, Kevin Koe, Kevin Martin, John Morris and Thomas Ulsrud, while the nominees for the women's MVP include Cheryl Bernard, Jennifer Jones, Eve Muirhead, Anette Norberg and Susan O'Connor.

The men's rinks up for the top male team award include Team Glenn Howard, Team Kevin Koe, Team Kevin Martin and Norway's Team Thomas Ulsrud.

Team Cheryl Bernard, Team Jennifer Jones, Scotland's Team Eve Muirhead and Sweden's Team Annette Norberg are the women's rinks up for the team of the year award.

The rookie team nominees include Team Jason Gunnlaugson from Manitoba, Ontario's Team Brad Jacobs and Team Eve Muirhead.
