Vertical Slam
The true virtual Vertical Slam experience — a group of friends completed their Vertical Slam run in Comox, B.C., on June 12, 2020.

Following its two main events in June, the Vertical Slam Society has ordered food cards from the money raised, and a total of $22,200 will go towards School District 60's Hot Meals Program and patients at the local chemotherapy unit. That's $3,600 more than the 2019 events made, not bad for an event during the time of social distancing.

From the Vertical Slam Ultimate Challenge, all 22 schools in the district will get $950 in gift cards, to provide students in need with money for lunches and other meals. That's $150 more than each school got in 2019.

A total of 13 chemotherapy patients at the Fort St. John Hospital will receive $100, with money raised from the Sadownik Memorial Run/Hike, $300 more than in 2019.

The society is now waiting for the cards to arrive and will begin delivering them to patients and schools in the coming weeks.
