Rodeo entries could be as high as 300

Just over a week before the roping and riding begins at the Dawson Creek rodeo, the entry numbers are looking strong with about 300 competitors expected in the timed and rough stock events. "It is awful good. We have about 300 entries.

Rage pick up Edmonton, Kelowna players

The Dawson Creek Rage has announced a couple more players who are expected to play with the Jr. A team this season: one is described as a bull of a player with a deadly shot and the other is a smart competitor with a strong worth ethic.

Juniors open season Oct. 1

The Dawson Creek Junior Canucks will open the 2010-2011 Northwest Junior Hockey League regular season Friday, Oct. 1 when they visit the Grande Prairie Wheelers in the Coca-Cola Centre for the first match of their 35-game schedule.

Hockey school set for late August

The annual Dawson Creek Minor Hockey Association's school, which has become an end-of-summer and beginning-of-the-hockey-season tradition, is slated this year for Aug. 23-27.

Rage's schedule has team opening at home

The Dawson Creek Rage will open the 2010-11 North American Hockey League season Sept. 23 at the EnCana Events Centre, but not before the local Jr. A team travels east to play in the league's "showcase games" a week earlier in the Minneapolis area.

Cariboo-North East wins 43 medals, four from Fort St. John

The Cariboo-North East zone won 43 medals at the BC Summer Games in Langley at the end of July and four Fort St. John residents contributed to that total.

Dirt biking an uphill battle
