Kubicek scores lone goal of shootout to lift Oil Kings to 3-2 win over Wheat Kings

BRANDON, Man. — Simon Kubicek scored the lone goal of the shootout to lift the Edmonton Oil Kings to a 3-2 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Thursday night.

BRANDON, Man. — Simon Kubicek scored the lone goal of the shootout to lift the Edmonton Oil Kings to a 3-2 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Thursday night. 

The visiting Oil Kings sealed the victory when Zakhar Polshakov couldn't beat goaltender Kolby Hay. 

Shea Van Olm and Logan Dowhaniuk scored in regulation for Edmonton. Marcus Kallionkieli and Mason Ward had the Brandon goals.

In other Western Hockey League games, the Saskatoon Blades defeated the Prince Albert Raiders 6-4 and the Medicine Hat Tigers edged the Calgary Hitmen 3-2. The Victoria Royals dumped the Vancouver Giants 7-3 and the Seattle Thunderbirds beat the Spokane Chiefs 6-2.
