No truth to COVID-19 in Tumbler Ridge rumors

An incorrect social media remark by MP Bob Zimmer sent the District of Tumbler Ridge's rumour mill cranking - but District of Tumbler and Northern Health officials note there is no positive case of COVID-19 in the district at this time.

"No case. It was a miscommunication after a conversation with an official," clarified Zimmer on Friday.

The District of Tumbler Ridge office was fielding many calls Thursday evening and Friday morning.

"We are looking into it right now, but we have no information as of now, and are unaware why Mr. Zimmer said this. It is unlikely he has any information that the District of Tumbler does not," said CAO Jordan Wall earlier today.

"I saw that comment from MP Zimmer and I stared at it for a long time," noted one Northern Health official.
