The evacuation alert issued on July 20, 2020, including the alert of 7711 Old Fort Road, has also been rescinded.
"This alert is being rescinded upon receiving advice from the Peace River Regional District’s geotechnical consultants, who continue to investigate outstanding issues related to the landslide. Upon confirmation that the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure continues to actively monitor the area surrounding the Old Fort Road where the landslide occurred, the geotechnical consultants are satisfied that evacuation alerts can be removed at this time," the PRRD said in a statement.
"As new information comes forward, it will be assessed to determine whether changes to evacuation alerts or orders can or need to be made. We thank the residents of Old Fort for their patience during this difficult time."
A landslide at the end of September 2018 sent more than eight million cubic metres of earth and trees toward the Peace River, destroying one house, several utility lines, and the only road in and out of the community.
The slide let go again in June 2020 after more than 50 mm of heavy rain drenched Fort St. John and the North Peace region.
An evacuation order remains in place for the Peace River lookout, portions of the gravel quarry on the 240 Road, as well as areas already destroyed by the landslide.
