Ruby McBeth: Catching up with old friends

The Hofers

Louis Hofer phoned recently from Lasqueti Island where he and his wife Doris are making their retirement home. This Swiss couple had made themselves right at home in the Peace Area but decided to retire where the winters were not so long. For several years now they have been working on their acreage on the island which is a short ferry ride from Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island. Lorne misses Louis as they did traditional archery together. Hopefully when the pandemic is over, we will be able to visit them.

Farewells

I was saddened to hear of the death of Lou Elias. Lou was a much-respected counsellor in Fort St. John. Many’s the person who has been set on their feet again by his wisdom and advice. Our condolences go out to his widow, son, daughters, and grandchildren.
