So here it is. Back to school.
Back to school? Already? I mean, didn't summer just start? As if last year didn't fly by fast enough, now a whole new one is coming up. Back to actually sleeping at night and getting up at a half decent hour. Back to structure and homework instead of freedom and parties.
It's not that I'm not excited to get back to school. Believe me I am. I want to see my friends and see how the "new school" thing is going to work out, but I'm not so thrilled about the work.
I'm going into grade 11 in a few days and that means the leap from Bert Bowes to North Peace. New system, new teachers, new classes and new opportunities. I'm excited for the change.
The first few days back at school will be a gong show! Friends reunited after the summer, new students learning the ropes and everyone adjusting to the new schedule. After we all get past that and the back to school excitment wears off, we will be counting down the days until summer comes back.
Summer should just last forever sometimes. And I mean a real summer. You could hardly call Fort St. John's summer a summer with the recent weather we've been having. Overcast days and even some where you can see your breath. Aren't we supposed to be hanging out in shorts and lounging around? Instead I've found myself curled up with a blanket and some hot chocolate in August!
I've finished my back to school shopping so now it's just time to wait. A few more days and bye bye summer. I'm going to miss it but until then I'll enjoy my school days while I can.
