Minister could learn from being criticized

Re: 'MLA's criticism disrespectful', Letters, Alaska Highway News, July 21, 2020

It’s my job as MLA to stand up for my community and my job as education critic to highlight (and yes, criticize) the Minister on areas where I’m seeing and hearing that he isn’t doing his job. Parents, teachers and kids need to have an idea of the plan for school this fall. It’s that simple.

We have been asking Rob Fleming for weeks to tell B.C. what his plan is to safely get kids back to school in just over a month and we still haven’t seen a thing. I know the Minister promised a plan on July 29, and you can bet I’ll be holding him to that commitment.

The minister promised me weekly updates in early April and, so far, has only reached out to me three times. Again, speaking of promises broken, all I can say is, do better Minister. British Columbians deserve it!
