Teamwork gets us through tough times

On behalf of the North Peace Seniors Housing Society, I would like to thank all the people, companies, schools, and organizations that helped us through our recent COVID 19 outbreak.

Thank you to our staff, who went above and beyond during this crisis, Better At Home for their help and support, and especially the residents for following Northern Health, Dr. Bonnie Henry, the BC Government, and our guidelines helping contain the pandemic. This stopped it from further spreading to other residents and staff. I would also like to thank the volunteers that called the tenants daily to make sure they were safe and healthy during the ‘lockdown’. Thank you to the schools that sent cards and letters as well as to the companies and organizations that sent gifts and small tokens of kindness to our residents to let them know that they were not forgotten over the Christmas seaon.

It has been a hard year on many non-profits, including our Society, but the generosity of the companies that donated, either monies or in kind, has helped us get though the pandemic to this point while still planning for the future of our Senior population

Our community is quite a team, and teamwork is what gets us through tough times.

Our condolences to the family of the resident that passed and the others that fell ill are still in our thoughts as some are dealing with the after effects of this dreadful disease.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, the vaccine is on its’ way. Hopefully life will go back to the ‘new normal’ after people are immunized.

Again, thank you Fort St John for your love, support, and prayers. Hopefully we won’t have another outbreak in our facility but know that whatever happens we have the support of a caring community to get us through.

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy 2021.

— Gail Weber, President, North Peace Seniors Housing Society
