Dear editor:
More people struggle with autism today than ever before. At least one study links autism to pesticides. Canada recently, greatly increased its tolerance for pesticides in our food to correspond with U.S. standards. Cancer rates have sky-rocketed. A new case is diagnosed every 3 minutes in Canada. Multiple sclerosis rates have sky-rocketed and are still on the rise. Sask. has the highest rate in Canada. Sask. also uses more pesticide, herbicide, fertilizers, desiccants and many other agricultural chemicals than any other province. I suggest there is a very probable link between agricultural chemicals and MS. It is well known that many cancers are caused by chemicals (carcinogens). The endless parade of genetically modified seeds, terminator seeds and growth agents etc. in livestock production are other probable health hazards. Sask. now funds that medically unrecognized operation that gives relief to some MS sufferers. This is a very popular and politically correct move but like most government they refuse to address the problem. They should be funding intensive research concerning the safety of all the chemicals used in food production. The fact that these chemicals are produced and approved by the U.S. means very little. The U.S. will do anything that makes money. Canada is in desperate need of strong government that is not afraid to say "no" to foreign countries and corporations and is focused on the health and well being of Canadians. Canada has everything it needs to be a self-sufficient, sustainable, successful nation.
