WI News

The Baldonnel WI is continuing with their regular monthly meetings in people’s homes. The March meeting was at the home of Wilma Hansen. Each month after the meeting there is a craft or other fun activity. The members wanted to relax and socialize rather than just have a business meeting.

New daily word game

My grandson Benaiah challenged me to try a new internet game called Wordle. Your aim is to try to find the word they have chosen for the day. To get started, you type in any five-letter word. If the letters are correct and in the right place, the letter shows up green, correct; in the wrong place it shows up yellow; while not in the word at all it shows up black (gray). The aim is to find their word in the least number of tries.

Abbeyfield vacancy

Abbeyfield welcomes people to visit and see what they have to offer. They are saying that people can bring their own care services if they need housekeeping, PSW, or care aid. Applications for B.C. SAFER are also available to help you keep your rent even more affordable. It is a homey place and this is a good chance to see for yourself what it is like.

Free compost material

I was in Starbucks recently and saw some bags of coffee grounds. They are giving these bags away for people to use as compost. My daughter tells me that coffee grounds are acidic so they are good for some plants and not so good for others.

Learning the lingo

The word of the week is Kindle. Kindle is a kind of tablet that you can import books into. When you go on Amazon to buy books you will often see a cheaper version of a book listed as Kindle or Audiobook. If you purchase this e-book, you can read it on your Kindle whenever you want. You can also read these Kindle books on the Audible app for iPad or Android computer or tablet devices.

Quote of the week
