Sam Riter of Richmond won two gold medals in his archery events at the 2020 BC Winter Games held in Fort St. John Feb. 20 to 23.

To the people of Fort St. John,

A huge thank you for putting on such an amazing Winter Games for our kids. We were up to watch our son compete, and from the moment we landed, until the moment we left, we had nothing but friendly, helpful, happy people welcoming us to both the city and the Games. And as much as we enjoyed it, we know that the athletes had an even better time. Even if they were sleeping on gym mats :D

To pull off something the size of the Games involves huge planning, hours of overtime, many volunteer hours, and a passion for providing that unique experience - and from our perspective you not only succeeded in providing a great event, you exceeded. Even when things went a bit sideways (as things always do - it's like death or taxes, inevitable!), those problem solving were still positive and helpful.

So again, thank you. Thanks to all your incredibly hard work, our son (and so many other sons and daughters) had a once in a lifetime experience that they will not forget. We appreciate all the care that went into those five days (and the hundreds of prep days before) and are grateful.

— Megan and Andrew Riter, Richmond
