The Charlie Lake Conservation Society will host a unique opportunity this weekend for residents looking to catch a rare glimpse of bats on the hunt.
The society's Bat Walk will run Saturday, Aug. 1, at 9 p.m. at Beatton Provincial Park, and will be a family-friendly, half-hour walk through the forest.
"After a short presentation, volunteers armed with bat detectors will lead us through the woods and open areas where bats are silently hunting," the society said. "You may be lucky and catch a glimpse of bats in the night-time sky."
The walk will meet at the picnic area parking lot. Those attending are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes and weather appropriate clothing, and to bring bug spray and a flashlight. The society will have night-vision binoculars. No dogs are allowed.
In case of rain, the event will be held Sunday, Aug. 2, at 9 p.m.
