Excessive speeder caught on Hart Highway

A 24-year-old man was fined $483 last week and had his truck impounded after being caught speeding at 152 kilometres per hour in a 70 zone.

The offence took place n a stretch of the Hart Highway near Prince George Thursday just before 9 a.m.

"This incident is a clear disregard for the safety of all road users, including himself," said Cpl. Craig Douglass of the Prince George RCMP.

"Any number of things could have easily caused a serious collision that almost certainly would have caused at least one death. There is no excuse for his actions."

The man's truck was impounded for just seven days.

Further penalties may be imposed by the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles and/or the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia.
