Fort Nelson natural gas bills to rise in 2020

Fort Nelson residents can expect to see their natural gas bills rise by an average of $49 in 2020.

FortisBC will increase delivery and storage and transportation rates for customers in Fort Nelson effective January 1.

Delivery charges are increasing to $4.295 per gigajoule, while storage and transportation charges are increasing to $0.050 per gigajoule. There are no increases to basic charges, or the cost of gas.

"A residential customer’s overall bill is increasing by approximately six per cent or $49 for the year based on the average usage of 125 GJ," the company said in a news release.
