Police in Fort Nelson are investigating eight break-ins to local businesses this month.

The latest incidents, according to North District RCMP, happening in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Aug. 31, when officers were first called to the the Petro Canada gas station at 3 a.m.

“Thanks to a quick response by both the police and the property representative, a man was located inside the closed business and was subsequently arrested without incident,” RCMP stated in a news release.

However, two more alarms at the nearby Fas Gas and Chevron gas stations were activated and reported to police while officers were still on scene at Petro-Can, police said.

Both stations had been broken into and merchandise was taken, according to police. No suspects were not found despite an immediate response to the calls, RCMP said.

“Many investigative avenues are being conducted, including video surveillance, gathering of forensic evidence, and obtaining witness statements to identify those responsible," RCMP stated.
