The fire that decimated at the Robin's Donuts in Fort Nelson late last month is still under investigation, although the municipality’s fire department has closed the book on it for now.
"We had an ‘undetermined cause,’ so it's now the insurance company's and RCMP's investigation," said Northern Rockies Fire Chief Gord McCleary.
The fire broke out at approximately 1 a.m. on Oct. 28 and continued for several hours, reducing the building to a smouldering pile of rubble. The fire was subsequently deemed suspicious by RCMP, who closed off the property for the investigation. Investigators were called in from the RCMP's North District General Investigation Section to help determine what caused the blaze.
"We're still investigating it – we're still working a few avenues – but nothing further to report," said Northern Rockies RCMP Cpl. Dave Blake.
The RCMP has said that they believe the incident is isolated, and the public is not at risk.
Anyone who has information related to the fire has been asked to contact the Northern Rockies RCMP at (250) 774-2700, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
