The Fort Nelson region will see its second straight day of heat Wednesday. Temperatures of 31 degrees are forecast for both Wednesday and Thursday.

A rare Heat Warning has been issued for the Fort Nelson region.

Environment Canada is forecasting a high temperature of 31 degrees both today and tomorrow for the Northern Rockies.

Combined with the humidity, it will feel more like 34 today and 36 tomorrow.

“Environment Canada and local Medical Health Officers expect an increase in health and safety risks from heat and are advising the public to take precautions,” said a statement Wednesday.

The warning also covers the North Thompson and North Cariboo regions as well.

“Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place,” it urges.

Yesterday's high in Fort Nelson was 30.9 degrees.

The forecast, however, is calling for a cooling trend by Friday.
