The Hudson’s Hope pool remains closed indefinitely, Mayor Dave Heiberg says.
“I know everyone is anxiously waiting for our pool to reopen. Unfortunately, I cannot give you a specific date, or even if the pool will open this summer,” Heiberg wrote in June 9 update.
"We have water in the pool and it is currently costing approximately $1,870 per week in direct costs (gas/electricity/chemicals) and $520 in staff time that could be utilized elsewhere to have the pool sit in idle mode as we wait for the Province and WorkSafeBC to develop guidelines for the safe operation of the pool."
Council meetings are also planned to move to the community hall to allow residents to attend. Council has been meeting in the basement of the district office.
“We cannot ensure the two-metre safe social distancing guideline is adhered to if we meet in the regular council chambers,” Heiberg wrote.
Heiberg further noted that campgrounds are open, and filling up quickly. Typically 50% of the campgrounds are available for drive-through traffic.
