Mayoral candidate Reg Knox has withdrawn his name from the ballot in Hudson's Hope citing “personal health reasons.”
Knox, who was challenging incumbent Dave Heiberg for the mayor's chair, was granted permission by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs.
Because the deadline for candidates to withdraw their names was last Friday at 4 p.m., he required a ministerial order to be removed from the ballot.
Chief elections officer Jeanette MacDougall confirmed Thursday afternoon that, as a result, current mayor Dave Heiberg has been acclaimed to the position of mayor.
