The District of Hudson's Hope says the boil water advisory will remain in place until Northern Health gives the green light to lift. Samples collected from the water contained no E.Coli but did contain natural occuring bacteria found in all living organisms called Coliform.

Original story:

The District of Hudson's Hope has issued a boil advisory after the discovery of E.coli in the community water system.

Residents should boil their water until further notice.

The cause of the contamination is under investigation and Northern Health currently lists the hazard rating as low.

Northern Health says underlying problems with the water system include “Inadequate chlorine residual throughout the distribution system” and a “Lack of current Emergency Response and Contingency Plan.”

It's advised to boiling water for at a roiling boil for a minimum of one minute to kill all viruses, harmful bacteria, and parasites.
