Hudson’s Hope RCMP are hosting a toy drive, and will be taking donations up to Dec. 12, with the toys going to families in need. Cst. Erich Schmidt says the idea started with his family, and grew from there.
“My family, my wife, and my daughter reached out to the community and asked if anyone needed some slightly used toys,” said Schmidt. “The response was quite a bit, so it got my mind rolling, let’s expand on this.”
It’s the first time a toy drive has been hosted by the detachment, which has partnered with the District and the Friends of Hudson’s Hope Society. Bins have been placed at various businesses around town to collect the toys.
“It’s that time of year. Christmas can be a crunch for many people, and now with this pandemic we’re in, it’s hitting people a lot harder,” said Schmidt.
Gift cards and money donations are also being accepted.
