The Hudson’s Hope RCMP and District of Hudson’s Hope teamed up after an annual Veterans Dinner, normally hosted by the District of Hudson’s Hope, had to be cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic.
An alternative way to ensure the local veterans were not forgotten, and still thanked for their service was sought. After donning masks and following strict COVID etiquette, Cpl. Rob Gardner and District of Hudson’s Hope Recreation and Special Events Coordinator Kristina Coombs, delivered seven meals to local veterans.
The meals, sponsored by the District of Hudson’s Hope, were catered by Pinch Curb Side Takeout and Cantina owner Brandi Moritz. The meals were placed in a poppy adorned basket and consisted of a main course, salad, desert, mini loafs of bread, a bottle of wine and glasses.
"As the Remembrance Day ceremony was closed to the public this year, it was so special to have the chance to get out and thank our veterans in a safe manner," said Cpl Rob Gardner, Hudson’s Hope RCMP Detachment Commander.
"Our local Veterans include senior citizens who served years ago, but also include previous members of the Armed Forces that served in a much more present time, including one of our own local police officers."
