Hudson’s Hope RCMP report no injuries in a two vehicle collision this morning between a school bus and a pickup truck.

At 9:15 am the RCMP were dispatched to the scene along Canyon Drive, and it's believed icy conditions led to the crash.

Detachment Commander Cpl. Rob Gardner says the bus was empty at the time, and the driver suffered no injuries. The truck driver was taken to hospital for observation, and appeared to be okay.

“When we arrived on scene the bus was empty, thank gosh there were no children involved at all,” said Gardner.

Gardner says the bus was travelling westbound and slid against the centre line of the road, colliding into the truck, which was heading east.

“It’s that time of year where weather conditions are going to change every quickly, we’re going to go from bare and dry to wet and snow,” Gardner said.

The Hudson’s Hope Fire Department and emergency services were also on scene. Canyon Drive was closed for roughly two hours.

Gardner says one vehicle did try to pass through the scene and wants to remind the public not to drive through active scenes.

“One vehicle did drive through the accident scene, they had to squeeze behind the rear of the bus and a very deep ditch,” said Gardner. “We can’t have people driving through accident scenes.”
