ORIGINAL: Two people died in a car crash near Hudson’s Hope on Monday night after they were ejected from their vehicle while in motion, RCMP said Tuesday.

According to police, at around 8:40 p.m. the Hudson’s Hope RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 29, northeast of the district.

A minivan was apparently travelling toward Fort St. John from Hudson’s Hope and allegedly failed to negotiate a turn in the roadway, causing it to enter a ditch and roll, police said. Both of the male occupants, aged 27 and 47, were ejected from the vehicle.

Despite lifesaving efforts from RCMP, Fire Rescue and Ambulance, both men died of injuries at the scene. The names of the two individuals are not being released pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Police said they have not ruled out alcohol as a factor.
