Mike Karsseboom has been named the new managing director of the North Peace Regional Airport.
The Vantage Airport Group announced the the news Sept. 14, and said Karsseboom brings a decade of operations experience with airport authorities in the Greater Toronto Area, and most recently from PortsToronto, where he was Director of Airport Security, Compliance & Planning at the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.
“It’s an interesting time to join YXJ and become part of the community this airport is proud to serve,” Karsseboom said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to continuing the safe, efficient and friendly operations that YXJ is known for, as we navigate the impact of the global pandemic to our industry and position for recovery.”
Karsseboom takes over from Shea De La Mare, who left Fort St. John earlier this summer for family reasons driven by COVID-19.
Karsseboom is a member of both the Canadian Airports Council and the International Association of Airport Executives. His background also includes years of air traffic control experience with the Department of National Defence and manufacturing work with Bombardier Aerospace, Vantage said.
“We are very pleased to welcome Mike to the Vantage team and know he will be a tremendous asset to North Peace Regional Airport and our network of airports. His deep working knowledge of every aspect of the airport and aviation business makes Mike an ideal fit as YXJ’s new Managing Director,” said Vantage senior operations director Lori Chamber.
Vantage operates the airport on behalf of the North Peace Airport Society.
