It’s one of 30 new webcams across the province to help motorists prepare for their travel, the ministry said.

The camera at Cecil Lake Road at 243 Road points east, and “provides the maintenance contractor and drivers a look at conditions along this popular northern route, to plan for travel and snow clearing work,” the ministry said.

There are 457 highway cameras delivering 873 views in the DriveBC network, with more than 50 cameras placed along sections of Highway 2, Highway 29, and Highway 97 in the Peace region and northeast B.C.

Locations are chosen based on need, and identified either by residents, contractors, or weather experts, the ministry said.
