Emergency crews were kept busy Wednesday morning after a pair of collisions involving multiple vehicles happened within blocks and minutes of each other on the Alaska Highway just south of Fort St. John.
And thankfully there were no major injuries.
The first crash was reported at 8:28 a.m. at the Swanson Lumber Road, involving a RCMP vehicle and a Ford pickup truck. There were no reported injuries, said Cpl. Madonna Saunderson of the North District RCMP.
The second crash was reported at 8:44 a.m. on the highway near the 257 Road, involving a tanker, a Ford Explorer, and a Chevrolet Cruze, and which forced a temporary highway closure. Some people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
There was no report of a spill related to the tanker, Saunderson said.
"In each case, weather and road conditions were less than ideal," Saunderson said. "It was reported to be extremely foggy and the roads very icy."
