Lake View Credit Union, proudly serving the Peace region since 1943, is pleased to announce the re-election of Board Chair, John Kurjata and the election of new Vice-Chair, Dale Rose to their respective positions for the duration of one year.
Kurjata, a Chartered Professional Accountant who joined the board in 2016, will be serving his third one-year term as Chair. Rose, also a Chartered Professional Accountant on the board since 2016, has served as chair of the Audit and Finance committee throughout his tenure and this will be his first executive role. He also served on the Investment and Lending committee.
Kurjata said he was looking forward to the next year within the credit union.
“I’m especially excited to have been asked to lead our board as we set our course for Lake View Credit Union’s long and prosperous future. LVCU has been serving our members for over 75 years and has remained a strong, viable credit union throughout, one of the strongest in B.C. I am very pleased with this and with our new vision and mission statements. Your board of directors feel that living up to these statements will guide our credit union well into the future.”
The election by Lake View Credit Union’s Board of Directors was unanimous following the successful completion of LVCU’s first ever virtual Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday, April 29th, 2020. As Chair, Kurjata has pursued an ambitious agenda emphasizing community engagement and enhanced member experience through upgraded technology and enhanced member service.
Other board announcements following the AGM include the re-election of Director, Jerrilyn Schembri of Tumbler Ridge, and the election of new director, Shamir Mangalji, each to three-year terms. The election was remarkable for the fact that it had the highest voter turnout in the history of Lake View Credit Union and for the first time, members were able to vote remotely. Although voting was available in all three physical branches, the vast majority of balloting occurred through a secure online portal.
