RCMP wish to speak to witnesses of semi fire

On May 26, 2020, just after 4 p.m., Fort St John RCMP received a report of a fully engulfed tractor trailer on the Alaska Highway between Rd 269 and Rd 271. All arms of the emergency services attended and found a single semi tractor and trailer fully engulfed in fire. At the time of writing the fire is under control but still burning.

The Fort St John RCMP are asking any members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or has dash cam video to please contact police. If you have dash cam video from around that time and in that area, the Fort St John RCMP would like to view it.

It is too early in the investigation to confirm what has happened. The Alaska Highway in that area will remain closed as fire services, Peace Region Traffic Services and the North District RCMP Traffic Reconstruction Unit remain on scene.

The Fort St John RCMP continue to investigate and are asking anyone who may have information about this incident or can provide dash cam video to contact the Fort St John RCMP at 250-787-8100.
