BC Hydro says controlled burning for Site C will take place Friday, March 19, in the following locations:
the west of the Farrell Creek bridge, between 70 km and 71 km west of Fort St. John
the north side of the Peace River, between 70 km and 71 km west of Fort St. John
the east side of the Farrell Creek bridge, between 69 km and 70 km west of Fort St. John
"To reduce the amount of debris that may end up in the water and at the dam site, we are clearing about three-quarters of the vegetation within the reservoir footprint," BC Hydro says. "Some trees will remain in the lower areas and on steep slopes where it is unsafe to work. Debris which could impact dam or boater safety is removed, burned, bucked into short logs, chipped or mulched."
Tree clearing continues along the Highway 29 realignment and transmission line corridor.
