Around Town: 10 years of firefighting service

Taylor fire hall looking for recruits
Lt. Justin Bolog is presented with an award for 10 years of service with Taylor Fire Rescue from Mayor Rob Fraser, March 15, 2021.

Taylor firefighter Lt. Justin Bolog was recognized for 10 years of service earlier this month.

Bolog joined Taylor Fire Rescue in September 2010, and was recognized by Fire Chief Steve Byford and Mayor Rob Fraser on March 15.

Fraser thanked Bolog and his family for the personal time they have committed to the volunteer department.

“The community really appreciates the work that you do as well as the work of all your co-volunteers. You’re seen as a leader," Fraser said.

Except for the Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief, the Taylor fire hall is staffed by trained volunteers, including three volunteer captains, three lieutenants, and 12 firefighters.

The department is recruiting those interested and who live within the district and its fire protection area. A junior firefighter program is also open to students ages 14 to 18.
