The annual Fort St. John & District Kennel Club's Dog Show is set for May 18 and 19 at the Taylor Arena.
Show secretary Kathy McLaughlin says the weekend will feature all types of breeds.
"Everything from the littlest, like Chihuahuas, to Irish Wolfhounds," she said.
The event is free (to the public) and open to the entire family — just leave your pets at home.
"The only thing we ask is that you not bring the family dog...and (because they're preparing for show) you ask before you touch the dogs," said McLaughlin.
This event, one of many that breeders and owners take part in throughout the year. McLaughlin says there are shows right across the country at any given time.
"We have another one planned for Grande Prairie in June, there's one in Whitehorse on the Fathers' Day weekend...Prince George in July."
Besides competing for rosettes (ribbons), there are also cash prizes available and the chance to earn points under the Canadian Kennel Club's championship show program.
Starting time is 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
